About US

Led by People For the American Way Foundation, the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, and the NAACP, the nonpartisan Election Protection coalition is committed to protecting the right to vote and ensuring fair elections. Focusing on historically disenfranchised communities, Election Protection draws on the expertise, experience, passion, and moral leadership of the civil rights community to make sure every eligible voter is able to cast a vote that will count.

The Election Incident Reporting System (EIRS) is a cornerstone of the Election Protection Program. By leveraging an integrated set of tools, EIRS allows Election Protection coalition partners to:

  • Compile and track election irregularities before, during and after Election Day
  • Quickly identify problem areas and common problems – and resolve them – on Election Day
  • Dispatch attorneys rapidly to resolve incidents at polling places
  • Keep records of voting problems that can support year-round advocacy for election reform.
